I loved Carre Otis’s biker-girl Calvin Klein ads in the early ’90s.
Speaking of models, I’m excited that the spring exhibit at the Costume Institute at the Met is going to be “The Model as Muse.” I hope my beloved Linda Evangelista is prominently featured.
UPDATED TO ADD: Carre and Mickey Rourke divorced in 1998. Looking for the best-evah article on Rourke? Click here.
you may well get to see your beloved featured well. Sounds great.
I don’t even recall CK’s campaigns from the 90’s. That model is somewhat new to me but the last picture does seem familiar.
Linda is fab and I too am excited about this years theme. Christy is still up there in the hall of fame too!
wasn't she in '91/2 weeks part 2'?
She is gorgeousss… So great to live in NYC…great exhibitions & shows… San Francisco is showing YSL!
Linda is gorgeous, she is one of the most versatile models ever. Boy do I wish i was there, would love to see the exhibit.Looking forward hopefully to some great pics of it Wendy if you get to go.

I won’t miss this.
Bleah, I can’t read the article because I’m not a subscriber!
It sounds like a great exhibit!
I always link Carrie to Mickey Rourke. Are they still together?
L.A. has a show of Vanity Fair photographs that I must see.( See, I can say nice things about L.A.);-)
LBR, things with Mickey ended long ago. And that’s cute of you to be nice to LA for a second 🙂
I had the same black scoop neck/jean/cowboy boot uniform myself in the early 90s.
Excellent blast from the past!
weird, my husband and I were just talking about Carre Otis yesterday! He’d read an article about Mickey Rourke apologizing for ruining their marriage, she was his one true love, etc. I always loved and still love Carre’s look.
i like linda too!
Fantastic ads!
And you clever girl, picking up on the Manic Monday!!! Honestly, it may have occurred to me subconsciously but the reference was not intended (though I wish I had thought of it!).

Hi! I am very much looking forward to that exhibit! Thanks for mentioning it.
Wow she looks fierce, love that first photograph. And the exhibit sounds super, can’t wait to see which models they choose to feature!
These are so great!!
Oooh, those ads are very inspirational!
Now that you mention it, I loved those ads too.
I love these ads
Calvin was at his height then.
I love those ads too, she’s so gorgeous.
Amazing how on trend these ads still are. Do you know that Jimmy Choo (I almost just typed Chimmy Joo…oy vey!~) has a waiting list (!) for their biker boots?
so cool
Wendy, I am going to the YSL exhibition in S.F. Nove.16–Can you make it?
