Of the Roman noblewoman Fulvia (wife of Marc Antony), the historian Plutarch wrote, “She was a woman who took no interest in spinning or managing a household, nor could she be content to rule a husband who had no ambition for public life: her desire was to govern those who governed or to command a commander-in-chief. And in fact Cleopatra was indebted to Fulvia for teaching Antony to obey a wife’s authority for by the time he met her, he had already been quite broken in and schooled to accept the sway of women.”
Apparently, that passage is supposed to be insulting. Screw that! Fulvia sounds pretty damn fabulous to me.
Want your own Fulvia ring? Email me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com for more information. It comes in 18K gold and green tourmaline too. Want to see both versions in person? Put November 19 on your calendar. That’s the date of my next trunk show. Email me if you want an invitation and aren’t already on my mailing list.
Other new pieces that will be at the trunk show are the Evelina, Siobhan, Nefertiti and Marie Antoinette rings.
Fulvia is my idol.
I love the heavy, sculpted shape of this ring, worthy only of a strong woman.
This is so cool. I want it.
This is one of those moments when I feel soooo isolated. Wish I was living in NYC!
I like this one a lot. There is something very Star Trek about it.
Fulvia is spectacular! It might actually beat my other bracket winner – the Clemence — no — must have both. All are being filed away for when I become the ruler of all things Dog Art. It’s only a matter of time…
P.S. Fulvia is also a character in George Clooney’s film about Chuck Barris. It’s the first time I ever heard that name and it stuck with me.
Sounds like ancient feminism to me!
That ring looks powerful, like something General Zod would wear.
Yeah Fulvia! She sounds awesome!
you shall have all the vinegar you desire!!
fulvia sounds increable and the ring is beautiful.
