Y’all need to check out the very funny — and touching — movie The Lucky Ones, starring Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams and Michael Pena. The movie is about three soldiers (two on leave, one discharged) driving from New York to Las Vegas.
It’s interesting that a movie that never shows the war can wind up saying so much about it. Sneaky.
This craptastic trailer doesn’t do the film justice at all. It makes the movie look so generic and sappy, which, I assure you, it is not. But here’s the trailer anyway.
Separately, check out the latest tally of NieNie donations. Have you donated yet?

I’ll see this one just as soon as possible!
You’re so right, WendyB, about their backs. And they’re both wearing the same shade of taupe/gray, too. Thanks for looking and commenting. I’ve always liked Tim Robbins, so thanks for the word up.
I haven’t heard of this film, but I’d watch anything with Mr Tim Robbins in it!!
This looks like a good movie. I liked the part where they were all in the same car talking; it reminded me of another great road trip movie about 3 people on a journey, Y Tu Mama Tambien.
Hi Wendy-another one for the list, thanks for the review!!
I have to see that movie! I am a movie fanatic and that one looks good even though the trailer is a bit “sappy”.
Thanks for the heads up.
Love a movie recommendations and Tim Robbins is one of my fav actors. No date yet for release in UK for this one!
That’s cool – I don’t enjoy conventional war movies (fight scenes: boring) but this looks good. Plus I have a girl crush on Miss McAdams
I come to trust fellow bloggers movie reviews more than anything else so I’ll look out for it here in oz.
Though I love the song, I think any time you use “I Will Remember You” in a trailer, the film is going to to look sappy.
Also, I’m so surprised seeing Rachel McAdams in that! What diversity she’s got as an actress.
Hadn’t heard about this movie, thanks for the recommendation! (BTW, Tim Robbins frequents our favorite sushi bar in town; he’s still a hottie!)
I haven’t heard of that film but it sounds really good. I’m a big Rachel fan!
The movie sounds great! Thanks for the thumbs up, I’ll let you know how much I love it in the end.
It is on my list of movies to see. But, I want to see the George Clooney movie first. I don’t care what the critics say.
I’m looking forward to seeing it. Rachel McAdams is a girlcrush of mine, LOL.
i must say i’m quite happy to hear you were a fan of this movie since i was sad that i would have to miss a movie with rachel mcadams since it got a 20% rating on rottentomatoes.com

i havent heard about this movie, but i love tim robbins and rachel mcadams. i’ll check it out!
I can’t seem to get enough of Rachel McAdams. She’s such a stunning actress! Thanks for the outfit comment and compliment, my dear. :):)

Rachel Mcadams is totally one of my girl-crushes. Not exactly the most prolific of movies, but I loved her in the Family Stone.
I will definitely look for this, thanks so much!
i love rachel mcadams and tim robbins. thanks for the movie rec…i will def. check it out.
I’m definitely going to see it now. I didn’t have any interest because of the semi-sappy trailer, but we’ll take your recommendation, WendyB!
I’m gonna check that movie out! Ever since The Notebook, I love everything Rachel McAdams is in!
I’d never heard of this. Interesting cast. I’m intrigued! Must check it out.
I’m not sure why, but this movie was on at the health club this morning.
Yes indeed, the trailer for this one is weak — I review movies for my job and i totally passed this up, but my friend at work who signed up for it came back from the press screening raving that it’s a very sweet, modest film. I wish they wouldn’t sell these movies short with such sappy trailers!
Thanks for the tip. I haven’t even heard of it.
