After thinking about it for a while, I broke down and ordered this little owl face made of rock crystal and onyx. I’m going to make a necklace out of him.
While I was still wondering whether this was a wise investment, teh Interweb offered me some positive reinforcement. These were the next two things I saw online.
Now I’m feeling kind of hungry. But what do I want? Potato chips?
Somebunny help me out!
Oh no! Here come more owls! Tiny snowy owl, a stripey owl top, a Mr. Scrooge owl, a lovely owl wall decal … just stick to Etsy and you’ll see hundreds of owls. But not a beautiful owl face from Germany.
Separately, I just discovered a cool, NotCouture-like site called Ooh! Shiny! and I thought it was pretty great even before I found my Livia poison ring on it.

he, he, “who, who” I love it when fellow bloggers reveal their personality (from fashion owls to junk food and sweets). Cute post.

Go for it, i think is lovely.
I would love though a brooch out of it, but i guess necklaces are your specialty.
LOLOLOLOLOL 😀 at “Now I’m feeling kind of hungry. But what do I want? Potato chips? … ” that’s a GOOD one

@BB, I like brooches but their popularity swings so wildly with younger customers. They’re either very in or very out. I feel like it’s a harder thing to sell because most people will consider a necklace but someone people won’t consider a brooch under any circumstance!

Dang, the net just cut me off! Anyhoo… was saying that I think it looks good as a bangle or cuff, cos I saw the ones you wore with your gorgeous white boots in the pix of last few posts. If the size is right, would you think of it?

Athena is my favorite Greek goddess. She was the goddess of wisdom—born out of Zeus’ head. Perhaps the reason she really never got over her fierce father complex. Anyways, the owl was Athena’s companion animal and how the owl became associated with wisdom. Long story short, I love the owl necklace.

The little owl face on a bangle? That’s the kind of thing I’d do for a private client (if one wants to step up, now’s the time. LOL). But people are pretty hard on bracelets (and rings) and personally I think the owl is a little fragile for a bracelet. That’s the kind of thing where sometimes you have a customer who is just like, “I want this, I don’t care, it will be my problem to take care of it” and then you can do it. But if it ends up with me before I find a customer for it, then I’ll do the necklace. It’s just easiest and safest for a funny little thing like this. I have to say, it would be a cute ring though!

Of course you know I already think this is so freakin’ adorable, but I really wanted to comment on brooches. I am always so hesitant to include them in my posts, though I wish they’d make a comeback (and stay.) I always wear them on my winter coats, but am usually in the company of 50-something teachers. Not that I’m wearing those cat ones or anything.

I have a screenplay about Athena — and her owl, who plays an important role if you…or anyone out there is interested 🙂
Once again, will keep you in mind for the jewelry if or when it gets made.
