I ordered this all-over-argyle sweater from J. Crew. I thought it would be fun to wear with white jeans this winter. But, as I expected, the small is too big and the XS will probably be too small, so I’d have to get this one taken in. Is the sweater worth the effort?
Speaking of alterations, the BEST tailor in New York City is Ghost Tailor. I’ve gone to a lot of tailors over the years, had some bad experiences and learned my lesson! Now, Jean at Ghost is the only person I allow to touch my Ossie Clark pieces. Wait till you see the Harris tweed Ossie coat that she reconstructed for me. She really does do knits as well, and that’s difficult to find. If you’re in New York, this is the place to go. Tell her Wendy sent you! She’s by appointment only, so call ahead.
Incidentally, Jean is the person who bought a Borgia ring from me and put a tiny paint set in it.
UPDATED TO ADD: While I’m speaking of J. Crew, I should show you this cute yellow peacoat. Click here for more info!

I think this sweater could look great with white jeans as you’ve said. Maybe you could try adding a wide white belt on the waist too, to keep it fit… just an idea. 🙂
BTW, your jewelry desings are fabulous! Love this Borgia ring!

Love the sweater, its very preppy and the design seems to be a classic now. And as you said if you go to a good tailor the sweater should stay in great shape.
I love your ring!! Sorry this might be an obvious question but were do you sell your jewelry and were can we see your collection and prices?

Hi Shaz! You can see my pieces at http://www.gigicaron.com. Everything under Wendy Brandes Designs is an original piece by me. Under Shop Online, I include lighter-weight 14K pieces by other manufacturers. Also, I’ll be posting a few of my own silver pieces soon, but those will appear on the blog first! If you have questions about a specific piece, email me via the contact email on that site. 🙂

I have a sweater something like that from J.Crew, but the argyle print was only on the torso, not on the arms or the back.
I love love LOVE it 🙂 But it’s meant for winter, as it gets quite warm as a layer.

Cute sweater…i love jcrew so much! As far as im concerned, anything is worth tailoring if you love it, because if it is ill fitting you will never wear it!
krissy says
if you love everything about the sweater except the fit, i’d say get it altered since you know a great tailor. it will look good with jeans!
ps. thanks again for the “rockin’ girl blogger” award! i’m so embarrassed that i’m so clueless…how do i get it on my sidebar? is there some html code i can cut + paste?
WendyB says
I’m clueless too…I think I just right-clicked on the graphic to save it and then went to the template section of blogger and dumped it in. I’m not sure if that’s what I was SUPPOSED to do but…there you go!
Paul says
keep it. it will look great!

Hmmm…just keep in mind if you have this taken it, matching up that diamond pattern will be a bitch!
Why don’t you add the paint ring to your collection? I’m wondering minus all those diamonds what it’s going for?
Is the paint included 🙂
WendyB says
Hi y’all! I am doing this on a Treo, let’s see if it works. I do have a version of the Borgia ring in silver with no stones for $300. A bargain! Paint set not included!

Of course! And a nice big blood runby ring wouldn’t hurt either…
