Tweet I didn’t watch last night’s Emmys live, because I was at a concert. I sure didn’t miss anything fashion-wise. I thought last year’s Emmys were uninspiring from a style perspective, but this year was even worse. There was exactly one gown that I would want to wear myself: Downton Abbey actress Michelle Dockery’s red-and-burgundy […]

Tweet Jewelry expert Cheryl Kremkow has a new blog post entitled, “Coincidence or Copy? When is a Design Too Close?” I know Cheryl — in fact, she invited me to co-present at a seminar for the JCK Las Vegas jewelry trade show in June — but she didn’t tell me that she was writing this […]

Tweet There was a 21st-anniversary reunion of the Wayne’s World cast last week. Reading about it, I realized that not only did the people involved in that movie have great taste in music … …they had great taste in jewelry too. Check out this picture of Lara Flynn Boyle wearing a “WAYNE” necklace that’s exactly […]

Tweet Animal-motif jewelry has been around since ancient times. Big cats are an enduring theme. When it comes to a universal concept like this, “‘Tain’t what you do (it’s the way that you do it),” as the song goes. Everyone can interpret the same idea differently. For instance, I made a tiger ring for my […]

Tweet Many designers have done slashed necklines, but I was struck by the fact that I spotted the 1980s Geoffrey Beene online mere seconds after I saw the Spring 2013 Versace. Business-y slashed neckline versus boudoir slashed neckline … which do you prefer?

Tweet When I admired a gel-filled PVC clutch by Christopher Kane in May, I didn’t imagine I’d see the look again … … but today, I spotted Kotur’s gel-filled, acrylic “Pink Snow Globe Clutch” on New York Magazine’s website. I’ve got to keep my eye out for more of these. They remind me of lava […]

Tweet MrB and I are celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Last year, I tried on my wedding gown for a blog post, but this year I’m going to concentrate on cake. I loved my crazy-looking wedding cake by Ron Ben-Israel. Here’s another shot of it. Guests lined up to take pictures of that […]

Tweet Topshop has announced a new designer collaboration. Not with me, sillies! Instead, the U.K.-based fast-fashion chain struck a deal with 27-year-old British designer J.W. Anderson. Apparently, he’s an up-and-comer, but he’s certainly not a Margiela, Lagerfeld or Versace as far as name recognition goes. The latter three designers/design houses have all worked with H&M, […]

Tweet I’ve always wanted a pair of embroidered vintage Golo boots. Aren’t they spectacular? These suede Jimmy Choo boots remind me of the Golos … … but the Choos are more subtle, with less embroidery and muted colors. I’m going to hold out for the eye-catching originals.
