If you went to the Women’s March — either in Washington or anywhere else in the country (or the world) — I’m sure you know that that was only the first step.
I wrote about the second step for The Activist Playbook. Here’s the info:
Think of every Tuesday for the first 100 days of the Trump regime as a #ResistTrumpTuesday. Tomorrow, Jan. 24, you can join MoveOn, Working Families Party, and other allies to stop the #SwampCabinet. Visit district offices to rally Democratic and Republican senators against Trump’s troubling cabinet nominees. To find a local group, use MoveOn’s website to find a local group. (You might find that your closest rally is taking place at lunchtime so that it’s possible for you to attend.)
If you can’t make it to a rally in person, call your senators. At a training call last night, leaders from Indivisible Guide, MoveOn, and Working Families reminded the 25,000 participants that the #1 priority of senators and representatives is re-election. When elected officials hear complaints from their constituents, they’re going to think about how that affects their chances next term, especially if those complaints get press coverage. (Even if your senators are Democrats in a blue state, they can always work harder for you. As the call leaders said, a B+ senator can be forced to become an A+ one.) In-person visits are most effective, followed by phone calls. Do what you can!
