Here’s some disco for Throwback Thursday: KC & the Sunshine Band’s 1975 performance of “That’s the Way I Like It.”
I watched this video recently and became obsessed with the dancing horn players. More bands need dancing horn players!
However, in 1984, I was much more interested in Dead or Alive’s cover of the song. As I’ve said before, I was madly in love with lead singer Pete Burns …
… and Pete’s wife, Lynne Corlett, whose mane of hair matched Pete’s.
That was truly living the dream back in the ’80s. We all wanted an androgynous dude with whom we could share our hairspray, eyeliner and earrings! Lucky bitch!

OMG I’ve forgotten dead or alive! That is such the classic 80s video. My kids will think I’m insane. But sam will dance I bet and my oldest who is transgender will appreciate the style. I loved how in the 80s they said androgynous instead of cross dressing, trans, or drag. Lol.

Yes, it was all about the androgynous guy!
I loooooved the album Sophisticated Boom Boom!

Interesting choice for a remake — for him! I like it when the people who would seem least likely to do something are the ones who do it… and it turns out kinda fabulous!
WendyB says
Pre-plastic surgery Pete Burns was divine.

I was obsessed with K C and the Sunshine Band back in the day. So much that I named my daughter Casey, although I tell her it’s after Dr Casey Reid from “the Young and Restless”. And FYI, I named my other daughter Kelly after the character in the original Charlie’s Angels, Jaclyn Smith. Haha, sad isn’t t it?
WendyB says
NO WAY!!!! That’s awesome!
