I keep flipping through photos from my first trip to England in 1983, hoping to find the picture of my encounter with Roger Daltrey. I kept passing over one in which I was standing by a life-size model of a old-time train conductor; the white t-shirt I was wearing in the shot didn’t interest me. Then I took a closer look, noticed the pastel polka dots on the top and instantly flashed back 31 years. That was one of my favorite tops!

The dots make all the difference, don’t they?
Judging from the strap, I was carrying my beloved gray LeSportsac bag, previously seen in this post. I must have felt really beautiful that day, all dolled up in my great t-shirt and my great bag!
Another favorite top taken on this trip was my rainbow-striped button-front shirt, which I believe I “borrowed” from my mother. I’m wearing it with my ultra-tight English jeans in this photo taken in my friend’s sister’s bedroom in Hailsham, England.

That’s Haircut 100 in the poster behind me.
I’ve had a fondness for overalls since my high-school days, though as far as I recall, I never had slouchy Levi’s denim overalls like the cool girls did. I had dressier red overalls instead.
Look how carefully I matched everything to the white buttons on the overalls: New Wave sunglasses-turned-headband, chunky bracelet and puff-shouldered top. I bet I was wearing my white Capezio jazz shoes too.
While I really nail the “awkward teen” look in that photo, I’m happy that I found it because it gives me an excuse to post this cat picture.
I’ve had that on my computer desktop for ages!
I had the striped shirt too! Kitty in overalls, that’s all I need to have a groovy day. xox
I’ve wanted to use that kitteh photo for so long!
I was big into overalls in high school, too! My favorite look was denim overalls layered over a GunnySax sheer lace blouse with a high neck and tiny pearl buttons. I thought the “high-low” combo was sooooooo chic.
My mother hated those overalls with a passion, but knew to pick her battles.
I LOVE the sound of that outfit. I want to steal it!
Hey… I had Capezio’s as well. I mean, who didn’t? Idiots, that’s who. The stylish peeps wore them. I still use sunnies as a headband… stylish AND practical.
I’m overall this! LOL
