I hope all my U.S. readers had a lovely 4th of July weekend. We visited some friends who live on a lake. For a party on Saturday night, I wore a Pucci-esque Versace dress that I’ve had since 2002 or 2003. Here’s how it looked in early 2003.
Here’s how it looked this weekend.
What Wendy Wore
Dress: Versace (2002 or 2003)
Shoes: Prada (2011)
Necklace: My own Gloriana design
I shared the first photo in a 2008 post I did on Versace. I’ve left a link to that post in the comments of a number of blogs that criticized Versace as unwearable. I wonder if any of those critical bloggers are among the ones now dancing jigs over Versace’s coming H&M line. I wouldn’t be surprised.
On Sunday night, I wore the Castelbajac sailor outfit that I got last year. Here’s how it looked last year.
Here’s how it looked on Sunday.
What Wendy Wore
Top: Castelbajac (2010)
Pants: Castelbajac (2010)
Shoes: Prada (2011)
Ring: My own Juana design
On a totally unrelated note, today I’m starting work on my website to increase the prices of all gold jewelry, as I’ve been warning you I would. You have about 24 hours to try to get some last-minute deals, so buy now or forever kick yourself!
Sexy hair in that first pic madame ! Oooooh!
That dress looks as good as it did way back when. Time flies, that sort of thing.
Beautiful Wendy…as always !! Last year, this year, 3 years ago, 26 years ago….always beautiful !! With some…”the clothes make the man (or woman)”; with you…”you make the clothes” !!
As I scrolled down I gasped at those sailor trousers! You look fantastic in any year, Wendy. ;D
AND everything still fits you year after year! You look great natch. I love that Versace dress. I should stop buying crap and start purchasing only good things. I waste so much money on nonsense.
You look adorable in those sailor pants!
I love both outfits but especially those sailor trousers… swoon!
Hi my dear-sounds like a fabulous weekend and the Versace dress is forever stylish and lovely, the sailor trousers are great too!! xx
I love when you show how you wore something before, proof that fashion can be a true investment. And how is it that you look younger as the years go by? Are you a vampire?
I love the dress. You look so different with your hairstyle in the first pic.
I want to know what Allie wants to know – the secret to reverse aging!
WOW to the sailor pants, gorgeous!
Oh, how I COVET that Versace dress.
Very pretty!
Wow you look gorgeous dear! love the dress and the pants! great looks!
I LOVE the sailor look on you! You look gorgeous! (You could play a great Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes!) xxx
I have the widest smile on my face, what a great post and argument against the Primark throwaway fashion mentality.
You look amazing year after year!
Your hair is getting so long! I love it. But that’s not what I want to comment on.
I love how you just know which clothes to hold onto, and how you wear them in new contexts, keeping them current.
You look great in both outfits! I think you’re slimmer than last year: evidence the sailor pant outfit.
I’ve never seen you personally in short hair but I like your hair in the first picture. Not only are you ageless but you can wear your hair anyway you want.
Happy Independence Day!
You look younger in the photo from this weekend than in the one from 2003!
Bless you!
I don’t know what you’re doing but you look YOUNGER in the recent pics! Keep it up, whatever voodoo you do.
I heart you!
My fantasy is to have access to your closet! Where was that pic taken–the one with sailor pants?
The first one? In Mallorca.
never mind…I found the old post! I still want an hour in your closet!
You’ll find a LOT of black t-shirts there!
oh wendy
i am in love with those pants!!
the dress is pretty darn cute too
brett
You look fantastic in both outfits.
I adore the Castelbajac top and pants.
You have an amazing clothing collection!
Fabulousness ahoy! I adore those sailor pants, I want! x
Wow – is that a Rachel cut I spy in the first pic?
No!
I love the dress, but the sailor pants are to die for! You look great in both. I have always had a weakness for Pucci and Pucci like prints.
Those sailor pants are so freaking awesome!
Oh boy, I’m loving those sailor pants!
I love that sailor outfit and your hair looks amazing in the first pic!
You look stunning in the Versace–and I love the hair! I always knew from the early days when the NY Times used to find you for the style page that you were destined for fashion greatness! Miss you!
I’m loving those pants! Wild cute.. cheers!!
