For Mother’s Day brunch, I needed to dress to impress — after all, my mom is a style icon! So I wore a chartreuse Yves Saint Laurent skirt that I got between 2002 and 2005, during my chartreuse-skirt period. That era was exactly like Picasso’s blue period, except without all the groundbreaking art.
We had to wait more than an hour for our food to be served, so by the time we finished and my gorgeous father, GeorgeB, took my outfit photo, I was quite rumpled.
What Wendy Wore
Top: Giambattista Valli (2008, previously seen here)
Skirt: Yves Saint Laurent (pre-2005)
Shoes: Flower Feet shoes by Prada (2008)
Lip color: Rebel by MAC
Rings: From my personal collection
GeorgeB found a good place for a close-up of my flower feet.
But it was my grandmother who made the fashion statement of the day. While trying on the sweaters my aunt bought her, she remarked:
“This is my style. I don’t know what the hell my style is. But this is it.”
Wendy you look adorable .. i love those shoes so much xx
Love your grandmother’s response to the perfect sweater! And I love your flower-heeled shoes!
And if that’s rumpled, then I’d love to know what un-rumpled looks like. 🙂
I just absolutely ADORE those shoes. They’re heavenly… I sense a little Fluevog in them.
Oh, look at your cute little shoes! And that skirt is such a splendiferous color! Love what your Gma said, too. Your mother in that photo taken by GeorgeB, oh boy. No wonder you like for him to take photos of you, honey.
Looks like grandma wears what she wants too!
Those shoes and skirt were made for each other! In fact, the skirt reminds me of this Zac Posen dress I sold the last time I sold on ebay

Very much alike!
The shoes are TDF! I love them. You look beautiful. Looks like the weather in NYC has improved too.
That quote from your grandmother is hilarious! I see where you get your sense of humour!
Those shoes are *swoon* lovely. I also love the chartreuse skirt – I have a chartreuse cape!
You look so sweet! If someone had told me chartreuse, gold and black would look so good together I wouldn’t have believed it – but wow! Your grandmother sounds like a pistol.
Funny, my husband calls me flower feet but that is because I have flower tattoos on my feet.
I love how you pick the quirkiest designer pieces and blend them into your wardrobe so you are wearing them vs. them wearing you.
OMG those shoes are STUPENDOUS! Fabulous heel!
Oh, I LOVE chartreuse, and the way you paired the skirt with those heels. Fantastic!
Loveeee the shoes!!! 🙂
wow you look absolutely gorgeous!!
i love your shoes 🙂
Love your Grandma’s remark!! xx
I went through a chartreuse period as well! You have the best taste, WendyB! That picture of your mother is GORGEOUS!!!!!
Lovely. The color works on you! (I don’t say that often about this tricky shade of green…). Also, your grandmother’s comment is hilarious and so familiar (“I know it when I see it”). It’s good to know when something suits you–or doesn’t.
Wendy, you look fantastic! Chartreuse is not a color that speaks to me but you rock it so well I’m starting to wonder what I’m missing! Those shoes are fantastic, as well – what a surprise to see the sculpted flower heels! I love it.
I used to think chartreuse was the worst color and then I started loving it! Shows you that the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s indifference! Because I often switch from hate to love but never from “meh” to love.
Those shoes are AMAZING. I love what your Grandma said. I had a similar epiphany over the weekend!
My anti-spam word “gawjuss” made me miss NY.
you are giving me serious shoe lust.
Hehe your grandmother sounds like one sassy lady! And always nice to see the flower feet again.
Love those shoes and the colours. And your grandmother is a woman after my own heart.
Ooh those shoes are fantastic! I sort of need a parir. STAT 🙂
I love that quote! Your grandma sounds like a very, very smart lady.
Wow, I haven’t seen the flower feet in a long time! What an appropriate venue, occasion, and time of year to bring them out!
I love all this chartreuse!
I’ve been seeing that color skirt a ton at thrift stores lately and have debated on grabbing one. One of my fave colors! Oh those shoes! Gah!
I love skirts that length and that fabric. So feminine. And the color is terrific!
oh I love those shoes! nice look, Wendy 🙂
and your grandma is fab!
xo
Those Prada shoes are INSANE! You looked gorgeous, Happy Belated Mother’s Day!!!
Prada is love, and you look like spring!
Bwaaaah!!! Love your grandma!!
Nobody does fantastic/weird shoes like Miuccia! The teacups especially!!! I’ve never see the flowers before, I love them.
