I Was Too Damn Sick to Vote Properly

After researching the possible causes of my fever, I felt much worse and did go to bed early. I stayed there most of the following day but dragged myself out late in the afternoon to vote. Due to my dire illness, I voted all wrong. What other excuse is there for not voting for Jimmy McMillan for governor?

Jimmy represents the Rent Is Too Damn High party. I’m an owner, not a renter, of my apartment but I am trying to find some new office space and, indeed, the rent is too damn high. Jimmy’s spectacular facial hair is surely worth of support. And, most importantly, as the winner of the 2008 Drysdale Award for the Blog With the Most Swears, I should support any party with “damn” in its name without question. All of this inspired me to check YouTube for videos of the original Broadway cast of Rent. I was impressed to find clips from the 1996 opening night. I’m a big hypocrite. While I totally agree with my beloved Patti LuPone for going off on a photographer during a 2009 performance of Gypsy, I was still delighted to find the Rent videos. So sue me!

If the Rent Is Too Damn High party doesn’t run in the next election, I’ll have to vote for the Tea Party. Not THAT Tea Party! Gemma Correll’s Boston (Terrier) Tea Party!

    The rent is too damn high EVERYwhere. It’s outlandish here, as well.

    I voted via mail-in ballot. Maybe you should, too! Then you can be sick or dying or dead or undead and still vote.

  24. I was/am too damn Canadian to vote in the election. Alas.

    But I did see *Rent* in, I believe, its fifth week, five rows from the stage (swoon). Its ticket prices were too damn high, though.
