Traveling to Europe? Here is my advice: When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in London in July, spend five hours drinking Pimm’s with gorgeous blogging bitches.  The latter has become an annual tradition for me.

Pimm’s Fest 2010 took place Saturday, July 10. My partners-in-crime were Liz (aka Miss Peelpants), Kate of Make Do Style, Margaret of Penny Dreadful Vintage, Winnie of Diamondcanopy and Disneyrollergirl.

Pimm’s Fest 2010

Left to right: Liz, Kate, Margaret and Winnie (Disneyrollergirl not pictured.)

This picture was taken after we had at least three pitchers of Pimm’s. Maybe four, and I don’t rule out five. As you can see in the bottom right, Winnie needed a Diet Coke chaser by this time. Several more pitchers followed. (Thanks to all the ladies for treating me!) I blame those last pitchers for the fact that I forgot to take another picture of Liz’s vintage Lee Bender dress. It had a little peekaboo cut-out just below the bust and reminded me of this Ossie Clark dress I wore in 2004.

More importantly, Liz’s dress made me think of a dramatic vintage maxi that I’d found on eBay and was about to share with y’all. How fabulous is this?

This dress is a rare scroll-down delight instead of a scroll-down horror.A  I occasionally see a dress with a beautiful bodice only to find that, when I scroll down, the rest of the dress is horrible. When I saw the top of this dress with the peekaboo opening, I was sure the rest would be short, tight and tacky. But the floor-length hem and graceful white swoop make it slinky-sexy, like Megan Fox in Roberto Cavalli.

Megan Fox looks perfect except for that heinous Marilyn tattoo.

Despite the Ossie Clark dress, I don’t particularly care to bare bits of my torso, so the eBay dress is all yours.A  If you bid on it, don’t forget to snipe.A  And do NOT hack it off to mini length. For more vintage clothes shopping, I highly recommend Liz’s Vintage-a-Peel site, where you can admire a non-peekaboo Lee Bender-designed dress that I’m seriously considering for myself.A  The fringed top intrigues me. What do you think?

I would shorten this one for sure.

UPDATED TO ADD: Margaret came through with a picture of Liz’s peekaboo dress.

What a great photo. I had such a lovely time, that diet coke was very much needed as you guys are all made of much stronger stuff than I am! Love the photo of you in the peekaboo Ossie Clark number, it’s gorgeous. Also, I can totally you wearing that Ebay dress.

The peek a boo dress is cute :) ), xoxo

  4. The black and white dress reminds me very much an Yves Saint Laurent dress he did in the 60s: http://martiriosway.blogspot.c.....k-and.html

OK luv, don’t kill me, but the fringed pink bodice screams cheap. Megan Fox has changed her face so many times I don’t even know what she looks like, but that dress is freakin’ fabulous. You are stunning in the Ossie dress… yowza! You need to purchase that black and white peek-a-boo. Trust me :-)

That is such a great ebay find!

  11. Oh you and your sniping! Lol.. You’re terrible. I’ve done it, but I hate when it happens to me. :p

You look amazing in that Ossie Clark. I’d love an OC. Do you remember me going on about the vintage maxi dress that got away from me that I still dream about? (Probably not.) I recently had a realization that it was probably an Ossie Clark. Here’s a crude sketch I made recently to a London buddy blogger, Vint Junky (who is fierceness-defined): http://twitpic.com/1xgphi It’s my white whale. I would get married in it now that I’ve gotten the first marriage/prom out of the way and would be content to see a judge. OK, it’s late Saturday night and I’ve obviously had a couple vodkas so I’ll shut up now. X) xx

How fun, that Pimm’s festival! Everyone looks beautiful, and I see two of my favorite bloggers in there: Winnie and Kate. I don’t know the others, but I’m sure they’re brilliantly funny and witty.

I’m glad you’re having fun on your summer break.

  17. Love your vintage dress, darling WB!
And your new profile pic rocks!

  18. Sounds like you ladies had a great time. Pimms o’clock is a good time of day. If you are still in the UK hope you are having fun. Xxxx

  19. Ironic that my anti-spam word should be ‘foxylady’ because I am SO far from being so in that photo. Arghhhhhhhhh. I blame the heat and the Pimm’s…yes I do.

I’m going to have to add “crazylady” to my anti-spam list because you look gaw-juss. I just had to amputate part of your arm…it was either that or look like you had two arms on one side due to mine growing out of you!

  20. Miss Peelpants, I was just thinking how gorgeous your photo is! And although I am so not into showing bare bits of my belly, perhaps for the rest of my life, I think you are overqualified for bits showing in that black and white.

  21. Alicia says:

That dress is the sex. But the elegant sex. So I guess it would be the lovemaking. Either way, it’s gorgeous.
