McQueen’s Armadillo Inspiration?

I’ve been wondering if the 2007 David Lynch-Christian Louboutin fetish shoe collaboration inspired the shape of Alexander McQueen‘s Spring 2010 Armadillo shoes. Or maybe the inspiration was really Bedlington terriers.
