I agree with your point about not doing unethical things just because the magazines do it. It's a cop out. It is unfortunate that so much attention and pressure has been placed on bloggers, but if you were already running on good ethics, no sweat right? I do think there are many, many blogs that started for free swag. I guess I feel that they won't survive. Ultimately, a blog is a lot of work and if you are doing it for the wrong reasons, you will burn out. Like you, I started my blog to market my vintage clothing. It took on a life of it's own. I would never want to do anything that may even seem inappropriate because my integrity is important to me. I am glad that you brought up the Modcloth example though.
