*UPDATED MARCH 2010: THIS POST HAS BEEN REWRITTEN BECAUSE THE FRANCIS BLOG THAT IS MENTIONED IN THE FIRST SENTENCE IS NOW DEFUNCT.

Drop everything you’re doing and run to my other blog to check out the Francis Spring 2010 look book!

As I said yesterday, gorgeous blogger Jennine from The Coveted was part of the look book shoot (her photos are numbers 15, 18, 25, 27, 33, 36, 41, 45, 48, 52, and 58). We had many hysterical moments during the shoot but one of them came when we thought of gorgeous blogger Winona of Daddy Likey and her world-famous Don’t Show-Cha Your Chocha feature. Winona’s feature ponders the question of why some catalogs/magazines/websites show models wearing tops or dresses that barely cover their chochas or, as I prefer to say, “chimichanga regions.” Jennine and I have the answer for the tops, at least. That kind of photo occurs when you have an absolutely beautiful top but no bottom that sets it off to its best advantage in front of a camera. That doesn’t mean that you, the potential consumer, will never be able to find a bottom to go with it. It just means that the perfect one was not in the studio during the mayhem of the shoot. So you deal with reality and go with just the top.

We loved how gorgeous model Karol Marie of Wilhelmina was protected from the unlikely chance of indoor rain in this photo by Orlando Behar. That left her free to ponder her lack of pants.

Karol Marie was a great sport through a long day during which she was on her feet nearly constantly, single-handedly modeling nearly 50 looks. If anyone thinks modeling is easy, think again. We were exhausted from watching her. Notice how Karol Marie has a happy expression in all her photos. That helps so much. A sullen model with a chocha-level outfit draws a lot more attention to the length, because we’re all thinking, “Why is that woman unhappy? Oh, because she has no pants!” Karol Marie looks so cheerful that my thoughts run more along the lines of, “Maybe my life would be better if I wore no pants.” That’s aspirational fashion for you, people!

UPDATED TO ADD: Jennine posted more of her beautiful photos on her blog.

It’s true. I went out many a nights dancing in no pants, and I always enjoyed it quite a lot.

Hahahahah I totally accept you and Jennine’s chochular excuse–er, explanation–, and I adore this post and the Francis jacket. Pants or no pants, it’s a winner!

In other news, my captcha was “sushi.” Gross.

  5. Thomas says:

Why is she so unhappy…oh, she hasn’t any pants…

    priceless.

  6. Given I read this in English, proper UK English

I kept thinking don’t bend over as no pants literally is wearing no underwear/knickers – until it dawned on me you were referring to trousers!!

  7. Alicia says:

Why was I unaware of this DSYC phenomenon? I feel like an ass (chocha?).

  8. Ms. P&C says:

Let’s all be honest – if we had the legs of that chick right there we’d all go without pants.

Okay, maybe it’s just me. I would. I’d go without pants.

    This look is fab. Wendy!!!

    I am in love :) ))

  10. Hey girl! Just saw that the Frisky did a write up on your jewelry! Congrats!!!

no pants are sooo in! ;)

  15. I love the lookbook, it turned out amazing and really brought out the fun in the pieces.

About the pants, I know the ‘trend’ well… I think Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the worst offenders, as evidenced here. I have been a perpetrator myself, when I didn’t have the perfect bottom for this blazer – looks sexy no? Chimichangas anyone?

Also… I would love to get my hands on dress number 35… Deeeliciouuss!

  16. KD says:

Well, my life would certainly be a lot more awkward, pants-less. But based on the photos I suppose it would be a lot happier as well!

  17. Love the Francis look book.
The clothes are too young for me, but 20 something Miss de Ville is developing a serious attachment to the Francis line. Christmas is coming….

  18. enc says:

Of course, I followed your instructions and went to look at the Spring collection, then I came over here. I remember thinking “CHOCHA ALERT!” when I saw this photo in the lookbook. And then I see this post, with reference to Winona! It’s interesting how the terminology of fellow bloggers gets so ingrained into the fabric of our vocabularies.

    :D

(BTW, does CFR know this girl isn’t wearing any pants?)

  19. Rosie says:

She is the first person I have seen to pull off the I’m not wearing any pants look!

  20. Tina says:

I wonder how many people the look book will inspire to go pantsless…Great shot!

  21. miss sophie says:

that is one helluva cheeky jacket. we’re definitely in the midst of a sans pants fashion moment, judging by all the ’80s revival and shenanigans lately. it’s all relative, isn’t it? to pants or not to pants? ;)

  22. koko says:

    i love that jacket !!

  23. I am loving the jacket! It is very seventies reminiscent! I can think of a hundred ways I’d wear that! Or you could just wear it like that chick and look all ’70s flight attendant chic. Oh yeah!

  24. wana says:

    oh, will do!!

  35. Duchesse says:

SO, is this supposed to draw attention to that region and her gorgeous legs, or just make you wonder about… pants?

  36. Tanya says:

Say NO to pants! Pants off! Chocha freedom for all.

OK, I’m sorry, it’s late over here and I should go to sleep. Fantastic collection!

  37. GLC says:

Wow. Thanks for explaining the pantless phenomenon with models. Finally, someone comes up with an explanation!

Everything is so pretty in the collection!

  38. Kristin says:

ADOR-A-BLE. Looking forward to seeing the spring collection. How fun!

  39. Good explanation. The indoor rain always amuses me more than potential flashes. Isn’t an open umbrella bad luck?
