Today I wore the top and the shoes I got at the Castelbajac store in London.

Castelbajac top and shoes, Derek Lam skirt.

Castelbajac top and shoes, Derek Lam skirt.

I can only understand a few words in French, but I instantly comprehended the lady on the Metro who pointed at my feet and said (in French), “Your shoes…superb…superb.” MrB and I caught two other Metro mademoiselles giving me elevator eyes, starting at the shoes and traveling up.  A sure sign of an excellent purchase!

More on Day 5 adventures in the next post.

  1. I definitely agree with the random French woman, your shoes are indeed superb!

  2. OMG! Elevator Eyes.. YES!

    BTW, my word was “pooch”

    Hee hee!

  3. Tavi says:

This is pretty much one of the most perfect top-skirt-shoes combinations ever.

  4. alixrose says:

I would totally be checking you out too! LOL! ;)
Also that top is some stripe glory!

  5. Iron Chic says:

I find Europeans are not shy about direct elevator eyeballing. Especially Italians…

  6. Miss Janey says:

    Ooo la la. Tres jolie!

  7. K-Line says:

OK, they are awesome. But I find it hard to believe that random Paris ladies would deign to show you their true feelings! :-) I couldn’t even manage a second look from chic french women. Of course, I wasn’t wearing those shoes.

  8. jayne says:

shoe speak is an international language haha

  9. deja pseu says:

Fabulous ensemble. The shoes are indeed superb.

  10. Jill says:

I’m gonna have to tell Lewis about “Elevator eyes”…too funny. He calls it the “you’ve just been felt up by a chick” look.

  11. Tina says:

Elevator eyes. Love that! But maybe they are “escalator eyes” if they only look you up OR down and not both?

  12. I love that look! The colors and b/w stripes are fantastic. I forgot to tell you that there is a brand here in Taipei called “Milida” that reminds me of your style. Their dresses are hard to describe. It’s like pop art collages made from really brightly colored fabrics. They don’t have a Web site b/c knock-offs are rampant here (I passed by the Taiwan govt.’t intellectual property services office today and nearly fell over laughing), but I’ll try to find a photo to show you. Hmmm… maybe I’ll just have to buy a dress for myself and take a picture of it.

  13. savvymode says:

Wendy, you are one stylish gal. I love the whole outfit. Everything!!!

  19. Poster Girl says:

    Gorgeous from head to toe!

  20. Tres Jolie!
    I adore the entire outfit!
By the way…when I lived in Paris I always thought that on the whole American women (you know what I mean, LA and NY types) were more chic than French women. And you beat most Parisiennes in that outfit!

  21. Sally says:

Superb is the word. LOVE ‘em.

  22. Delmy says:

    The sweater is adorable!

  23. jenny. says:

  35. Lynn says:

I actually wanted to say this on your last post, but this post is the more appropriate platform to say it on. Say, how many pairs of shoes do you pack for a trip, Wendy? You always have the perfect ones to pair an outfit you wear on this trip alone!

    I covet those Castelbajac!

  36. velo says:

    i love ur shoes… very cute… =)
the colors are so bright! =D

  37. You look so completely French in this ensemble. I’m sure you look nothing like a tourist – but a true resident of the City of Light! :)

  38. Sharon Rose says:

You look like zee million dollars! I tip my beret and twirl my mustache at you, Madam.

  43. Can we get a close up of those?!!

  44. Duchesse says:

As they say, “Vous avez du chien”, which literally translates to “You have some dog” but is an expression that means you’re totally rocking your look.

  45. DrZibbs says:

    That is a great outfit!

  46. Kat says:

Love the colors of the outfit and the shoes!

  47. dreamsequins says:

Those shoes are punchy- in the best possible way! You look very Parisienne and chic with the stripes and the primary colors… Oui oui!

  48. Lizzi says:

Your shoes ARE superb, or as we used to say when was an exchange student in France they are “tres zbob!”
