One of my jewelers made this “W” initial pendant for me for my 40th birthday. I’ve been wearing it a lot lately. I only wear my own designs, so it’s rare that I get a jewelry gift that I can wear. MrB got me quite a bit of beautiful jewelry back in the day but, sadly, that’s all stored in a safe deposit box. Because this one is from my own jeweler, I feel it counts as “my” jewelry.

Note the lily-like shapes in the W.

One of the things that is not being brought to you by the letter W — or the letters E, N, D or Y — is the next part of my A Distant Mirror book club post. I had one finished but realized I could organize things better for y’all. I don’t want you to endure any less-than-stellar book posts. Check back next week.

  13. Duchesse says:

I especially like this b/c it’s not immediately evident that it’s a letter. So gracefully detailed.

As for jewelery in safe deposit box, I think ALL THE TIME about the design of a home storage device. Whether one is protecting it b/c of value or sentiment, it does not serve us well that the main place our best jewelry lives is a BANK. I have some ideas but am not writing them here so every burglar in the world can read them.

that’s so quintessentially the perfect jewelry gift. filled with thoughtfulness and beauty! i love the abstraction of the letter – there are so many ‘literal’ initial/name plate necklaces out there that end up looking tacky…

    this looks like an heirloom-in-the-making!
