One That Got Away, Others That Didn’t

October 17, 2008 by WendyB

You win some, you lose some on eBay. Here’s one that got away. I should have bid higher for this caped Patrick Kelly jacket. It went for under $100. What was I thinking?

I was thinking I have enough jackets, that’s what I was thinking! But I don’t have one like this. This auction was in September and it keeps showing up on my eBay history of “watched” items to torment me.

One of the “enough jackets” jackets that stopped me from bidding aggressively on the Patrick Kelly was the Steve J & Yoni P one I wore here. It was auctioned off on eBay by online fashion magazine Fashion156 after being used in its Painted Issue. Here’s how it looked on a model.

I’m thrilled to have it. If I had to choose between this one and the Patrick Kelly, I think I made the right choice. But having both would be nice too, right? Anyway, I wore the Steve J & Yoni P jacket again to a dinner that Pratt Institute held last night honoring Julian Schnabel, Takashi Murakami and my own personal friend, Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel. We all got smiley Murakami flower thingies as gifts.

Posing with my Murakami flower thingy.

Here’s another eBay item that happily didn’t get away. Earlier this week, I won this crazy skirt by my pal Christian Francis Roth for just $20.99.

Christian identified it as being from his fall 1992 menswear-inspired collection. Can’t wait till it arrives!
