I would have guessed “n” and “c” too. I hate those things. If I don’t get it right the first time, I give up. So I’ve left a wake of lot of abandoned comments on blogger recently.
It’s a good thing you pointed out that that was a “w,” because that’s what I got for my captcha when I posted my comment above. Had I not known, I’d have been here for six hours turning my laptop every which way.

It’s insane, sometimes I just punch in any old letters in the hope that a more legible one will appear.
